Will of William Dugles (Douglas)

Contributed by TJ Shumaker Notes; 1) This must have been written by someone else as William signed with his Mark 2) Even though whoever wrote it spelled William's last name as DUGLES, The Register noted it as DOUGLAS 2 times in his statements at the end of the will. IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I William Dugles of Strebann Township in the County of York & State of Pennsylvania being weak in body but of sound & disposing mind, memory and understanding blessed be God. Do make & publish and declare this as my Last Will & Testament. First and principally recommending my Immortal Spirit into the hands of my grate Creator, trusting threw the merits of my blessed Savior for pardon and remission of all my Sins, and a happy admission into the regions of bless and Immortality, and as such wordly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless. I give devise and dispose of the same in manner and form following. Imprimis I do order and direct that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid of and discharged as soon as convenient after my decease by my Executors herein after named. Item I do give and Bequeath to my loving wife Eunice the bed we usually sleep in and a Bay Mare. Item I do order and direct the the plantation and tract of Land whereon I now live Situate in Strebane Township aforesaid containing Two hundred and Thirty Acres be the same more or less, Shall be sold by my Executor or Executors herein after named as sone as convenient after my decease for the best price that may be had for the same hereby giving full power and authority to my said Executor or Executors his or there Executors or Administrators to convey the tittle of the same with the appurtenances to the purchaser his or there Heirs and assigns forever in as full and ample a manner as I myself might or could do were I personally present, and the money arising from such sale with what may arise from the sale of my personal Estate, to be disposed of in manner following. Item I do give and Bequeath to my said loving wife Eunice aforesaid the sum of One hundred and ten pounds Gold or Silver money of this State to be paid her in Proportion out of the different payments for my said plantation which is to be in leu and in full of her share, rights or dower from all my Estate both real and personal. I give and bequeath to Robert Cowen if he is living the sum of one shilling in full of his shear of my Estate real or Personal. I give and bequeath to my daughter Jean Intermarried with Joseph Taylor the sum of one hundred pounds gold or silver money as aforesaid in full of his, her or there Shearof my Estate real or personal. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Intermarried with James Steedt the sum of two hundred pounds money as aforesaid, which two last mentioned sums are to be paid them the said Jean and Mary out of the first money that may arise from the sale of my Plantation, allowing my loving Wife her proportial part of aforesaid. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Margret Intermarried with James Shields my wearing apperial and the sum of two hundred pounds lawful money as aforesaid. I give and bequeath to my Grandson Alexander Cowen the sum of fifty pounds lawful money as aforesaid and a young Sorrel Mare. I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Mary Cowen the sum of fifty lawful money and a big Iron Pot as aforesaid. All the residue of my Estate real or personal in my possession or elsewhere I do give and bequeath the same to be equally divided to and between my two daughters the aforesaid Mary Intermarried with James Steedt, Margret Intermarried with James Shields and my two grand children the aforesaid Alexander Cowen & Mary Cowen in equal shares which is to be in full of there and each of there shears of my Estate real or personal. And lastly I do nominate and appoint my trusty friend Daniel "Mumteeth" and David "Demorce" Executors of this my Last Will and Testament, hereby disallowing and revoking all other and forever former Will or Wills declaring this to be and contain my Last Will and Testament. Abraham Sickes Henry Slagle York County "afs" Before me Jacob Barnitz Register for the Probate of Wills & granting of Letters of Administration in and for the County of York in the State of Pennsylvania, personally came Abraham Sickes & Henry Slagle Esq. the two subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing Instrument of Writing, and on their Solemn Oath do severally say that they were personally present and saw & heard the above named William Douglas make his mark unto & Seal & publish the foregoing Instrument of Writing as & for his last Will & Testament, and that at the time of the doing thereof he the said William Douglas was of a sound & disposing mind, memory & understanding to the best of their knowledge and that t hey subscribed their names thereto as Witnesses in the presence of the said testator and at his request , and also in the presence of each other at the same time.
