Boren,
John. Born in 1755 in Baltimore County, MD.
Applied for a pension while residing in Sewickley Township,
Beaver County, PA on March 5,1839, stating that while living
in Baltimore County he enlisted in 1775 for three years,
served as a private in Capt. Robert Lemmon's Company of Col.
Isaac Hammond's Maryland Regiment, was in the battle of
Brandywine, and was discharged a few days thereafter. He
claimed he enlisted in 1778 and served six months as a
substitute for his uncle Richard Davis, in Capt. James
Thompson's Maryland Company, and that he again enlisted in
1781 and served as a substitute for another uncle, Robert
Davis, in Capt. Thompson's Maryland Company. He said
that he was at the battle of Cowpens and was discharged a few
days after the battle. His claim (#1030) was rejected as
he failed to furnish proof of the alleged service as was
required by the pension laws. After the revolution, John
Boren resided in Baltimore County for 3 or 4 years, then moved
to Huntingdon Co., PA where he resided for 10 years, and then
moved to Beaver Co., PA. His family is reffered to in
his pension application, but no names are
given.
Based on this John probably resided in
Baltimore Co. until about 1786/87. He then moved to Huntingon
Co., PA. and resided there until about 1797 and finally moved
to Beaver Co. in the late 1790's.
