Story related to Sarann Boring by Paul Boring
The following story was told to Doris Boring and me by Paul Boring, born in 1907, when we visited with him to check what
he could tell us about the Boring's. He owns and lives at Bentzel's Mill off Greenbrier Road. His father was John Boring
who was the son of William Boring oldest son of Ezekiel and Barbara Boring: William was a farmer like his father but wanted
to travel. He went west on horseback where he met Rosetta Elizabeth Bell. They married and returned to Pennsylvania on the stage.
They had five children: Edward, John, James (worked at A.B. Farquer), William (worked at a paper mill in York Haven) and Mary who
married a Beshore.
John born in 1879, son of William married Nora Drorbaugh daughter of Charles and Anna Drorbaugh. Charles' family were
from Sweden. John and Nora had five children: Bruce, James, John, Sylvin and Paul Boring. John and Nora are buried at Emmanual
Cemetery on Rt. 177 in Lewisberry. Anna was the daughter of Edward and Isso Elizabeth Drorbaugh.
Paul Boring married Beatrice Bailey. He did not mention children even though his son was there the day we stopped to
see him. Beatrice died, he married Mary. Mary had two brothers and one sister, she also had a daughter by a previous marriage
who married Carroll Leppo.
Paul said he plans to sell Bentzel's Mill and move to the old homestead at Maytown which he bought from his father in 1947.
Paul worked for York Safe, L. B. Smith through the Navy. He also served in the Army and National Guard.
On January 5, 1980 he was in the York Hospital with a bleeding ulcer and just about died. He said his wife Mary had calls
from and talked with Nancy Reagan over the years.
